Hans Müller, a 35-year-old German male, and his friend, Maria Schmidt, were enjoying a Chilean “Completo” at a street food restaurant in Santiago on the afternoon of November 15th, 2023. Shortly after eating, Hans began to feel unwell and lost consciousness. He was immediately rushed to the Hospital Clínico de la Universidad de Chile in Santiago. A fellow tourist informed the emergency team that Hans had mentioned having food intolerances. Maria, who was with Hans, confirmed that he had a history of food allergies, particularly to nuts. The medical staff at the hospital used Hans's International Patient Summary (IPS) to quickly identify his food intolerances and provide appropriate treatment.
